New mixed-use urban ugly

This is a newish structure in Downtown Greensboro, just south of Hamburger Square. Rather hideous.

Let's Forge some style ;-)

The Forge is a 'makerspace' which opened this week in downtown Greensboro.  The space is exceptionally stylish and superb.  There will soon be a brewpub next door and the entire area is beginning to come alive.

Hopefully this small project will catch the attention of the market and a taste of good design will begin to show up more frequently on Greensboro's plate.

Learn more about The Forge

so we begin.

I am born and raised in Greensboro, NC.  That was OK for about 18 years and then I left. I started slow, first to Boone, NC, and then on to Myrtle Beach, Richmond, and in 1993 to Atlanta.

I'm now back here, living in Greensboro. It's an intellectual Hooterville IMO.  Lots of liberal brainiacs here and lots of boring stuff that seems to satisfy most folks.  It's a comfortable place to spend a quiet afternoon.

Success and innovation flies a little under the radar here.  Well, way under IMO.  I like it OK but miss having a little more options to brain stimulation.

There is no real style here. There's a few places and people and things that are stylish to be sure., but they're the exception. The bulk of the populous just goes with 'whatever'.

Here it seems buildings and homes are places to work, sell and live; not meant to be visually enriching or stimulating.  So here I'll post lots of ugly architecture.

Pity us.
